Wedding Dates

Want to know the best ways to save money when picking your wedding date?

Plan your wedding in off-peak times- this can save you 20-30%. Discuss with your favorite venue and they will give you date options and you will see the savings add up. My friend saved over $2000 by having her wedding 1 weekend later than they were thinking. Wait til June in Florida and you can get a better deal.

Also, choose any day other then Saturday and you will see the savings as well.  Check out Friday night and Sunday rates. I have seen more Sunday mid afternoon weddings lately- might be a new trend for cost savings and then the wedding does not run all through the night either. This will give your guest the ability to go to work on Monday.

Happy Wedding Planning..Enjoy!

Rose Petals

Rose petals can really make a statement at your wedding. A great idea is to buy roses in bulk yourself( think local flower shop that will give you a deal) or even BJ's, Sams or Costco. You and friends can pull the petals apart the day before and keep them stored in the fridge in plastic bags. Have your friends place petals on the tables as well as down the aisle a few hours before the wedding- You will save a bundle and know what your are getting..Enjoy!

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth ENGAGED

Miley Cyrus never thought she would fall in love on a movie set- but then she met Liam Hemsworth. The couple have been dating for 3 years. She is only 19 and now they are ENGAGED.

Liam Hemsworth is an Australian heartthrob and everyone know Miley Cyrus. I even watched "Hanna Montanta". Liam was just in "The Hunger Games" and Miley is working on her next album. I am sure this couple will have a long engagement and let's see if this last.  I hope they get a Prenup!!! Congrats to another Hollywood Couple...Enjoy!

Bachelor Pad 2 Holly and Blake MARRIED

Holly Durst and Blake Julian got married on Saturday in front of 115 guests. If you are watching the current season of the Bachelorette, then I am sure you have heard this couple met on last summer's Bachelor Pad 2. They became engaged shortly after the show and we have watched their relationship grow. They got married at The Cliffs Country Club in South Carolina with many casts members in attendance.

I know a few of you are still sad that Holly did not end up with Michael- but I am happy to see her happy with Blake. Enjoy!

2011 Cost of a Wedding

 $$$$$

The Knot gave a great breakdown of what the average wedding cost:

The average cost for a 150-person wedding is about $25,000 (higher in urban areas).
  • Here is a basic breakdown of what you can expect to pay:
    Reception: 48%-50%
    Ceremony: 2%-3%
    Attire: 8%-10%
    Flowers: 8%-10%
    Entertainment/Music: 8%-10%
    Photography/Videography: 10%-12%
    Stationery: 2%-3%
    Wedding Rings: 2%-3%
    Parking/Transportation: 2%-3%
    Gifts: 2%-3%
    Miscellaneous: 8%
  • To avoid stress, allot about 5% of your budget for a "just-in-case" fund.
  • If you're paying for your honeymoon yourselves, remember to budget for that as well.
Have fun planning and congrats to all the Summer Brides. How much did your wedding costs?

Enjoy!
